Have you ever found a really cheap ticket on FareCompare.com and then (since FareCompare doesn’t sell tickets) an we send you to the airline or online travel agency to buy the airline ticket, and WHOA! They don’t have it. They only show higher prices for the flight you want. Well, we’re here to help you take advantage of those low airfares. |
The Problem: Cant Find My Airfare
There are 3-main reasons why you cant find the price FareCompare.com says is available:
- SPEED: FareCompare is FAST! We process the price information before the airline ticket sellers can (and that includes the airlines)
- SHALLOW SEARCH: The airline ticket seller site did not search deep enough to find the specific airfare you want
- BUG: Once in a great while, well get a bug in our pricing engine (just like any other site); we work hard to fix pricing errors as they appear
The Solution: Dig Deeper or Go to the Source
Heres 2-ways to get that FareCompare.com price:
- CHANGE REQUEST ON TICKET-SELLER SITE: Ask Expedia (or any of the others) to dig deeper for the ticket price you want; on Expedia, for example, you should select the specific airline in Airline Preferences. On other search engines, look for Expanded Search or Modify Search and then select the specific airline. The FareCompare price should pop up.
- AIRLINE SITE: If the ticket-seller site shows a higher price than FareCompare, go directly to the airline site (if the FareCompare price was on American Airlines, for example, go to that site and type in the information for the flight you’re seeking). The FareCompare price should pop up.
Airlines Control Seat Inventory on THEIR Airfares
FareCompare.com highlights the “airlines” cheapest published price and they (the airlines) decide on a case-by-case basis whether or not they will release a seat at that cheapest price - every time you ask - yes everytime you ask - now you know why prices change all the time.
100% of all travelers want the lowest published price - in reality only about 10% or less are going to fly on a particular flight at that price. The key is to be in the select group - which means you have to know when prices drop using the FareCompare.com Airfare Email Alert System.
Sometimes getting the 2nd and 3rd cheapest price is a good deal … The more you know about the airlines (you can be assured they know everything about you) the better buying decision you will always make.

Thanks for solving “can’t find my fare.”
